The cruise started at 9:30am in Last Duel Park in Perth and ended in Jones Falls at 3:30pm, with a bus trip back to Perth. Lunch was served on board the double decker boat. |
December 9 | Annual Christmas Dinner ~ at the Perth Links O’Tay Golf Club. There was live entertainment and dancing with “Two for the Show” featuring Steve Hanna and Mike Irwin, Christmas music by Perter Craske and, of course, the usual great traditional turkey dinner. May 28 | Our annual trip to the Thousand Island Playhouse, 185 South Street in Gananoque, this time to see “Driving Miss Daisy” ~ a comedy of unlikely friendship. The lunch options are either lunch at Muskie Jake's in the Gananoque Inn, 550 Stone Street South (you pay at the time); or the Playhouse box lunch and enjoy the Pre-Show Chat with actors on the deck outside the Playhouse. As a bonus for the adventurous, we suggest an optional 1.5 hour boat cruise for before the play with Chuckles Discovery Tours.The tour starts at 10:30am at the Playhouse dock and will get you back at noon, in time for lunch and the play, which begins at 2:30 pm.

September 29 | Our Fall trip started out by going to Lavender Ridge Winery and Vineyards which is located along the picturesque highway 148 in Luskville and situated along the ridge between the Ottawa River and the Gatineau hills. We lunched at Norway Bay Golf Course and then enjoyed apple desserts as we visited Coronation Hall Cider Mills. The last stop was at Log’s End where owner Gordie Black shareed with us how he gets the rare river-reclaimed wood that make exquisite flooring. Check out all of these places on their websites. We travelled back to Ontario on the new Quyon Ferry. The Echo Tour bus holds 55 people. The price for this event including transportation, admission and lunch was $50 / person (desserts and wine tastings extra), with payment payable to Probus Perth made at the June meeting if possible, as a deposit has to be made on the trip. This trip was sold out. |

June 1 | A celebration of our 20th Anniversary at the special meeting and luncheon held at 10:30 a.m. in the Timber Run Golf Course club house. Dr.Sandra Taylor spoke about “Medical Ethics”, the Rideau Melodears entertained and there was a great buffet lunch. Tickets were $25 each for lunch and coffee during the meeting. A round of golf in the afternoon could be played by those interested (9 holes/cart - $20; 18 holes/cart -$39). Thanks to the Anniversary Committee for all of their work on this event. |
September 30 | Bus trip to see Lost Villages of the St. Lawrence (3 km east of Long Sault ~ map) Bus: Perth pick up at 7:45 a.m. at The Factory parking lot on Christie Lake Road - Park at front of the lot; Smiths Falls pick up at 8:20 a.m. at The Food Basic end of the mall. The trip includes a guided tour and a visit to the Lost Village outdoor Museum, lunch at McIntosh Inn ( one of the best in the area) then the new Brockville Aquatarium. Price is. $95.00, taxes and gratuities included. There was a coffee stop on the way with juice and a snack at the museum. The price is based on 40 passengers, with a maximum of 54. |
November 4 | Dinner / Theatre Event ~ Mary made a reservation for Probus Members to attend the 7:30 presentation of “Death and Taxes”, the Musical by David Jacklin, at the Mason Auditorium (P&DCI), 13 Victoria Street Perth, following dinner at East Meets West Restaurant, 40 Foster Street. Theatre Tickets were $18 each and were given out at the November 2nd meeting. Dinner was at 5:00 PM. There was a choice of 5 entrees. |
December 2 | This year's Christmas Dinner/ Dance was held at the Lion’s Club Hall, Perth. A roast beef dinner that included a salad course as well as homemade pies for dessert, catered by the Lionesses. Social time with hors d'oeuvres and cocktails started at 6 pm, followed by dinner, gifts and dancing. Music was again by "Touch of Class" which is described as 'A selfcontained tribute to the 50/60/70's featuring multiinstrumentalist Simon Clark, ex-"Freddie and the Dreamers'. 90 people attended the event and plans are being made to hold our 2017 Christmas party at the same location with the same great music. |

December 14 | The Christmas Dinner/Dance was held at the Lions Hall starting at 5:30 pm. Featured glazed ham dinner and the return of “Touch of Class” (Simon Clark, ex-“Freddie and the Dreamers”). This was a repeat performance by popular request. Cost $36/person. Featuring a “Farewell to Canada’s 150th” gift exchange at this event. Participants were invited to use their imagination in exchanging a gift that is made in Canada or would be considered Canadian memorabilia. It’s the thought not the price that counts!!! |

April 10 | Visit to the OMYA pits at Tatlock and the plany at Glen Tay. We car pooled to Lanark and parked in the Lanark Landing Parking Lot. The bus left the Lanark Landing Restaurant parking lot in Lanark Village at 10 am. Lunch at the Lanark Landing Restaurant on our return. For those interested there was an afternoon visit to the OMYA plant on Highway 7. Cost for the bus is $5/person, payable on sign up. |

September 14 | The fall trip was to the Canadian Museum of History, 100 Laurier Street in Gatineau (formerly the Canadian Museum of Civilization) and MosaïCanada Horticultural Exhibit (at Jacques Cartier Park). The cost for the bus and museum fee was $45. Admission to the MosaïCanada Gardens (across from the Museum) was $20 (optional). A group rate ($17) was available for 15 or more. Lunch was a personal choice: in the Museum at the Panorama Café, the Bistro Boréal or the Café Express, or at other restaurants in the area. |

and log venue, with lunch at 11am in the beautiful restaurant. Meeting at Fortune Farms Maple Sugar Bush,
2442 Wolf Grove Rd., where there was a guided tour showing the art and
science of making maple syrup from pioneer days to the modern technique.

October 28 | Prince Edward County Wine Tour! This full day outing included bus transportation to PEC, four estate visits (with two tours) and lunch at the Drake Devonshire Inn
in Wellington .
The coach departed Food Basics in Smiths Falls at 7:00 am and picked up at the Factory on Sunset Blvd. in Perth at 7.20am. This gave us a full day of activity with travel time to relax and enjoy the scenery, with our return at approximately 7 p.m. First stop in the County was at Lake of the Mountain, overlooking the Glenora Ferry, to stretch our legs and take photos. January 8 | Lunch after the January meeting provided by the Legion Ladies. Lasagne or wraps, dessert, tea or coffee: $10. At this lunch we recognised the latest members of our "Over 90's club". Following lunch, we joined friends across the road at the Weatherhead Brewery at 1:30 p.m. for a social tasting. |
January 18 | Hockey game at the Canadian Tire Centre in partnership with the Retired Teachers of Ontario for a late afternoon hockey game between the Ottawa Senators and the Calgary Flames at 4pm. Tickets $40 each including Big Mac, Fries & Drink coupon. Bus costs $10 per person (you do not need to take the bus). Tickets available at the December meeting only. |

(Website and address: 82 Bedford St., Westport, ON K0G 1X0) Enjoy a pizza and salad lunch. Wine available by the glass or craft beer as well. There was a good selection of seating under an open tent or an umbrella for small groupings and a total of 36 participants! |
September 23 | Mapleview Golf Club ~ 2856 Scotchline Road, Perth K7H 3C5 Thanks go to Clive Addy for organising this event, which was open to a total of 16 ladies and gentleman from Probus Perth. Clive and Gardie Church took the first tee-off at 10 a.m. Tee-offs at 10 minute intervals for 4 groups of 4. A “Captain” from each group of 4 was asked to respond as the contact, providing their contact information and the names of their golfers. |
September 24 | Patio Dinner ~ Dine out with fellow Probians at Michael’s Table or Maximilian’s at 5:30 p.m. Participants were asked to select their preferred choice of restaurant and the organizers tried to accommodate as many as possible on these two respective patios, with a total capacity of approximately 20 couples. People were placed at tables of 2 unless informed otherwise, as organizers were working on a household or bubble seating basis. Masks were requested to be worn when not seated at the table. |
October 15 | Probian Amble and Lunch ~ The Social Events Team is excited to offer another 2020 fall event. On Thursday, October 15th, you are invited to participate in an easy fall amble. This circuit starts at the Crystal Palace at 10:45 a.m., heads over to Last Duel Park, along the Tay River and through beautiful fall colours as we make our way over to Michael’s Table Patio in time for lunch. The walk is about an hour in length. It can be done on its own or in combination with the lunch. Lunch will be served on the patio at Michael’s Table at 12 noon. A maximum seating of 18 is available. Seating will be at tables of 2, consistent with our COVID distancing guidelines. |
